SHOWER
Another FIRST took place recently Dec. 12, 2010 to be exact – a genuine manifestation of acceptance, an acknowledgement of an individual not so much as being an employee of the Philippine embassy but as a member of a family – the Filipino family.
Madame Anicia Padalhin, the very unassuming wife of the Philippine ambassador HE Nestor Padalhin, threw a shower in honour of Maria (not the ‘how do you solve a problem like Maria’ fame) but the Asst. Political section Secretary to the Ambassador. Held at the ambassador’s official residence at Jabi, the guests trooped in at around 4 pm.
Since it’s the Christmas season, it was a delight to see the well-decorated house, the entrance itself had this ‘kudkuran ng nyog’ duly dressed for the occasion like a small pet dog. Imaginative indeed!
And as the ‘guests’ (ladies only please) arrived, array of foods greeted and teased their senses, even as Mrs. Padalhin met them and shown to Maria – the ‘heart’ of the shower.
After all the ‘naughty’ talks as only ladies can ‘deliver,’ the guests were all feted to a ‘banquet’ – a revelation – Mrs. Padalhin IS a gourmet!
The ‘naughtiness’ continued when everybody have had their fill and while Maria was opening the gifts one after the other, each gift was given a ‘proper’ annotation by the giver with just the right amount of sexy connotation – from the flask down to the bedsheets.
The experience shared will definitely be imprinted in her mind as she expressed her gratitude to Mrs. Padalhin and the all-Filipino-ladies who came to celebrate with her.
