Homeward Bound

Embassies would always be a safe haven for nationals wherever they find themselves. The seafarers who encountered problems (such as non-payment of salaries and other mishaps) in Nigeria were rescued by the Philippine embassy.
Since Con-Gen Alex V. Lamadrid assumed his post, his baptism of fire proved him worthy of his salt. The seafarers rescued from the different vessels plying the Horn of Africa were just as grateful for their lives as the roof on their heads with board in tow.
As a set is saved and goes home, another set comes. This has been going on for five months now.
Con-Gen Lamadrid offers gratitude and prayers to the Almighty for every Filipino seafarer saved and sent back to every family waiting for them. Twenty-seven seafarers already arrived home safely.

Pictures below show them joining the Independence Day celebrations. They are also shown here while bidding goodbye to the host who cared for them.
