Salu-salo for a Cause

'Salu-salo'

The Migrants team launched a ‘Salu-salo for a Cause’ on June 14, 2009 for the distressed seamen currently housed at the Philippine Embassy. A naira 2,500.00 @ plate was served. It is but a dent on the huge burden vested on the embassy. Naira 115,000.00 was realized. Marketing was done by Maris Mercado, Vangie Novio, Sherwin Cayabyab and Lito Nucom on the 13th of June. Bargaining at the marketplace was quite fun.
Cooking was done by the seafarers’ cooks.
No money was solicited from any organization.

The organizers spearheaded by Lito Nucom, also took this opportunity to call for a general assembly of the Filipino community to hold an election.

The event was held at The Philippine Embassy compound.

Marketing Day June 13 for Seafarers

In preparation for the 'Salu-salo for a Cause' slated for the 14th of June, some members of The Migrants team went to market on the 13th to buy food items to be prepared by the seafarers' cooks. It was fun.
The building at the background proved to be irresistible for Lito and Sherwin, so a pose it was! Got that while at the premises of CBN.
