During my stay here in Abuja in the last 5 years and a half it has been always an honor and a joy for me to be in contact with the Filipino Community.
I felt at home with them, always respected and loved as the Representative of the Holy Father in Nigeria, but also considered as a friend and a partner in moments of recreation, of sport or excursions. We shared some good moments also of prayer in our chapel, moments of singing and praising to the Lord, especially every Saturday evening in the Mass at the Nunciature.
Recently the Superior General of the Jesuits, after a visit to Manila in an interview said that the Filipinos are the most cordial and hospitable people of the world, always smiling and kind to everybody. I totally share this opinion, because I too have experienced often this sentiment of cordial welcoming and serene feeling of being part of a bigger family and of a greater community.
I wish to express my cordial gratitude to all the members of the Filipino community, especially the Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Philippines in Abuja Mr Alex LAMADRID, for the friendship, the support and the cordial help in the liturgy with the singing during the Mass. I thank also all those who offered their collaboration in certain occasions, like the celebration of our Feast of the Holy Father, every year in the Nunciature.

Now for me a new chapter of my life will soon start. Going to Spain, where I am transferred, I will certainly keep with me a good souvenir of the smiling good Filipinos of Abuja and I am sure that in Madrid the nostalgia of Nigeria and of the good and kind people I met here will come back to my mind and heart.

:( kaka lungkot dahil wala na si nuncio sa Abuja... but on the brighter side of it, were blessed and humbled to be given the chance to be with a great, wonderful, representative of the Holy Father....we want to say thank you for touching our lives.... and as always, to keep us reminded that life on earth should be lived worth while, while keeping our feet on the ground.......you will never be forgotten nuncio... you have serve as an inspiration......salamat po.
