Re: travel permit"punta lang sa poea for the oec. ok na ang me mga work permits & residence cards issued by nigerian government. kausap ko si poea admin manalili last tuesday about it. hindi na 10 yrs and above ang requirements. basta me work permits/ residence cards. the ofws may want to thank poea admin manalili for her understanding and flexibility on this issue.
...at ano naman kaya ang maiiwan natin sa susunod na henerasyon?

ReplyDeleteThank you for the advisory. I hope this is true because I had a very bad experience in dealing with some POEA personnel regarding this matter.
I went to the Office of Ms. Manalili last Friday, 24 July 2009 and submitted a request(supported by photocopies of my Passport, Nigerian Re-entry Visa, Residence Card and Certificate of Employment)for an exemption from the special permit only granted to OFWs who had been working in Nigeria for 10-years or more. I wanted to get an OEC to go back to Lagos where I've been working as a Pilot for 4 1/2 years.
I was given the phone number of a certain Joseph/Ofel so that I can follow it up on Monday. When I called on that day, I was told to call Janet who later told me to call back the following day. I did this and when I talked again with this Janet, she referred me to another personnel whom I can't recall the name anymore. When I got to talk to this woman, she asked me where's my request and supporting documents were. I told her that it is already with Janet. When she got them, she told me that I should have gone there personally to be interviewed by another set of POEA personnel. After which, I have to follow it up again because they have to assess and make recommendations to Ms. Manalili whether they will grant me an OEC or not. This really pissed me off and asked her why was I not told of their procedure in the first place instead of passing me from one personnel to another. They could have done the interview on the first day as I went there at 8 in the morning. Not even an iota of an apology for their inefficient service was offered. I could no longer hold my temper that I told her that I'm no longer interested in getting an OEC.
I know that I'm at the losing end because of this but I will manage. However, I pity our fellow OFWs who comes from the Provinces and goes to the POEA and will be given the run-around by these so-called (Un)Civil Servants.
I do hope that you can talk again to Ms. Manalili and ask her to provide a clear outlined procedure, requirements needed and most of all assign efficient personnel to handle this matter.
