As the world waited and watched with keen interest the outcome of the Nigerian President's inauguration, (hmmm, masyado naman 'atang melodramatic ang opening na 'to!)
Change gear muna.
(BOW)
As the world especially in this part of the world, prepares to watch the inauguration of the Nigerian President, the Ambassador Basketball League continues. It's the semi-finals. Venue this time is the Ambassador's residence at Jabi where the opening ceremony was held. A very serene morning except for the occasional sirens of the dignitaries' vehicles on their way to Eagle Square, the ABL players were still nowhere in sight. Calling them proved to be an impossible task. Cell phones message:' the device is switched off. Try again later.' (tchusss, maybe, there's no credit)
Chairman Willi arrived.
His greetings: 'there's a curfew in our compound. No movement. It's when I said I'm going to our embassy that I was allowed to go out.'
And as each one started coming, only one verdict:
All cell phones' providers are shut off.
The Philippine ambassador has gone to attend the inauguration. It was Mrs. Padalhin who kindly extended an offer for coffee in case there is a need.
And as not to waste this lovely morning, Sherwin, Noel and Mcdoo being the first to arrive, played tennis.
(Wonderful facilities found in this compound are so inviting).
As usual, the 'tulungan spirit' was mobilized – tables and beach umbrellas set.
PRESTO – all set for the Semi-Finals.
...the first arrivals: Sherwin, Noel, Mcdoo decided to play tennis while waiting... |
...kaya pala sila laging 2 points: ang Red Bull drinkers - si Jam Es, si JRLyn at si Tirso; si Clifford at si Gel; si Willi kasama ang ninang ni Aldo na si Khaye... |
Pink Lagooners Captain Renz vs Captain JRLyn of the Philippine Embassy Team; Chairman Willi prepping Ref Sherwin while Doods and JR listened; Ref Efren doing his best cara 'y cruz act. |

...and they're all scrambling for the ball... |
Winner Semi-Finals: The Philippine Embassy Team - from left Tirso (si Pip?), JRLyn, Jam Es, Nelson and Nhur (replacement for Doy) |
